Helping those in need: KollegePawty Chip in for Spooky

This is the blog for one of my kitty friends Spooky. We are friends on Twitter. He is sick, but in remission with lymphoma. Those that know me and my pets know that Gizmo, my first Chihuahua had lymphoma so this cause for Shorty is near & dear to my heart.

Spooky's mom has been unemployed as well. Something too that hits too close to home. Please consider giving at Spooky's Chip In page to help defray the costs of ongoing bloodwork and ultrasound tests. As I know firsthand with Gizmo, these tests are very expensive. While you're at Spooky's blog, check out the other Chip In's for other needy pets.  If you can help, please do so, I myself know the Christmas season is upon us and that unemployment is still high, but if you're in a position where you can help, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Waiting for the V E T

Yes, it's that time again! This time it's my non-Chihuahua dog Mason who is at the vet for a geriatric checkup. Mason is a 12 year old Sheltie. It seems not that long ago, I brought Mason home as a puppy. Boy has time flown by!

When Mason was a puppy, our first Chihuahua Gizmo loved to go up to Mason and show him who was the boss. He would do this by jumping on Mason's head and would start humping on it! So funny to us, but not to Mason! I know somewhere I have video of this event. Well ever since a neighbors dog tried playing with Mason by jumping on him from behind and scaring him, Mason has become skittish . You have to be extremely careful not to scare him or like a cat he will turn to nip you.

It's a shame, but Mason has seemed to have obstacle to overcome in life. When he came home, we discovered he had giardia. That took awhile, but he overcame it. For all his life we have been battling ear infections with him. Not long after we would have the infection cleared, it would come back. Now that he's older, he suffers from hearing loss, some loss of eyesight, and now arthritis in his rear right leg. However, he's still sharp. He knows in the morning when he comes inside from doing his business, it's time to eat. Same after work. I can let him outside and he uses his canine senses to go out & come back to the door.

Well, the vet has come in to check him out. So going to go for now. Just wanted to share a bit on my dog who is very loved, but not a Chihuahua.
